The laboratory was only for boys

The cartoon network series were my favorite series of children. But there was one that exceeded my favoritism. Dexter's lab was the one I liked the most at that time.
Today I remember her with nostalgia, but now that I see her I find something undeniable, dexter's laboratory showed gender stereotypes, making clear an idea that boys were most intelligent over girls.
Dexter was a child genius and his series showed that laboratories and discoveries could only be made by a man. Dee Dee, dexter's sister, was the opposite, a girl who wore pink and the series showed her in a somewhat clumsy way. Every time he entered the laboratory she only destruction.
What he showed was something that even today continues, the idea that science is male and that the entry of women into this field is so dificult.
This is how the series was responsible for generating stereotypes, showing the delicate woman. On the other hand, the child was gray and intellectual, because apparently according to Dexter, only children could be scientists.

  1. Excellent example of maleness in the cartoon, fortunately nowadays women have more space in the sciences.

  3. It's very sad to admit, it was my favorite series as a child, but it highlights many roles that society has imposed on women:
